Reliance
The season of Lent stretches from Ash Wednesday to Easter, tracing the journey of Jesus to Jerusalem, where he met with betrayal, a false trial and conviction, suffering, and death, before being raised to life on the third day. At Laurel Heights our theme for worship at 11 is Reliance. The word reminds us that our hope, our strength, our joy is in God. When the world is in turmoil, and in our own lives we face daunting challenges, God will provide.
During Lent we will explore this theme through Scripture and worship on Sundays. A study on the spiritual disciplines is scheduled for Wednesday evenings in a hybrid format. The Labyrinth will be available for use through the week and on Sundays in Room 312 in the Education Building.
You, Lord, are all we have; you give me all I need; my life is in your hands (Psalm 16:5). The psalmist prays a prayer that becomes ours through this forty-day season as we follow the path of Jesus that moves through the Lenten wilderness to the Easter garden.
Grace and peace.
Paul
