Beyond . . . !

Sunday was a wonderful celebration of the journey we’ve made together through this season of exploring our faith journey with the promise that “God is able to do abundantly far beyond what we could ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20).  In worship we offered our gifts and ourselves to God through the act of consecrating pledges and estimates of giving for supporting the mission and ministry of Laurel Heights in the coming year.  And as is always true when God’s people gather in worship, so many things happened besides.  Hearts have been stirred, imaginations kindled, decisions made for living in certain deeper, more generous ways.

We owe our thanks to the Stewardship Committee, chaired by Lydia Powell, a dynamic and creative group that has planned for months to provide this special season of reflection and renewed devotion.  Thomas Sanders began and concluded our conversations in such thoughtful ways through writing and worship reflections, while Webb Myers, Richard Duggar, and Lydia Powell offered poignant testimonials as well.  Facebook conversations, which Rachel Goeres orchestrated, tell touching stories of individual faith journeys.  (These can still be found on the Laurel Heights Facebook page.) Sunday’s delicious brunch, coordinated by Trudy Kinnison and served by Acadiana, was one of many wonderful expressions of this special season.

If you have yet to complete an estimate of giving for 2020, you can do so securely online or by presenting your card to the church office or in worship this coming Sunday.

I look forward with you to all that is ahead in our life together—all that God will do through the mission and ministry of Laurel Heights in the coming year.  Of this we can be assured: it will be far beyond what we could ask or imagine!

Grace and peace.
