Super Adults: A Ministry to Loneliness Since 1975

An active and vibrant organization open to all senior adults, the varied activities of the Super Adults program offers companionship, challenge, travel, recreation and spiritual nurture. Super Adults encourages continued and new friendships, sharing of experiences, and ministry to one another so that all may continue to live healthy, happy and purposeful lives.

Leadership

Susan Holloway has been the Director for the Super Adults program since 1998.

Super Adults is governed by a Steering Committee consisting of 30 members, at least two-thirds of whom are members of Laurel Heights. The Steering Committee meets monthly to review, plan and coordinate all activities and committees.

Friendship Groups

Super Adult membership is divided into Friendship Groups with approximately 15 members is each group.  These groups are responsible for hosting Games Day and the monthly meeting (setting tables and decorating).  They also provide refreshments for the fellowship hour.  Each Friendship Group is headed by a chairman and co-chairman who are responsible for contacting the membership each month and checking on their welfare.  The Friendship Chairmen and other officers constitute the Steering Committee which meets monthly and makes decisions and plans for the organization.

The Super Adults are an “on the go” group. An active monthly calendar is planned with the needs of older adults in mind. A typical month includes:

ARTS & CRAFTS • MOVING ON EXERCISE PROGRAM • BOOK DISCUSSION • EATING OUT • FUN, ESCORTED, AFFORDABLE TRAVEL • GAMES DAY LUNCH • VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES • SUPER ADULT DAY (FULL MORNING OF EVENTS INCLUDING SPEAKERS, WORSHIP, AND A CATERED LUNCH)
